A letter from community/educational leader Darius Assemi:
The next leader of Fresno Unified will have a huge influence over the next generation of young people in the Central Valley, which in turn will determine the direction of our community for years to come. It is critical that we choose the candidate who can best serve both our students and our community by insisting on the following:
First, let’s make sure the Board of Trustees is looking for a transformative person who can turn the ship around. FUSD has failed so many of its students and teachers, especially Black and Hispanic students. You can reach the Board of Trustees at [email protected]
Second, education is not a race; it’s a journey that demands careful consideration. Rushing this decision could have long-lasting repercussions on our students’ learning experiences.
Third, let’s demand a national search for the most qualified candidate. We need a transformative leader who has a laser focus on the educational outcomes of our kids and a track record of success.
Finally, transparency must be the cornerstone of this selection process. The process the board is going through must be made public, and the three finalists must be interviewed where the audience can participate in the Q&A.
FORWARD THIS MESSAGE or draft your own message to the Fresno School Board at [email protected] and let them know that our kids deserve a brighter future.
Thank you for speaking up and advocating for the transparent public process that both our students and our community deserve. Please encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to do the same by forwarding this message to them.
